Deep renewal said on the right progress

Briefing journalists regarding deep renewal recently, the Head of Dire Dawa Ethiopian people’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPDRF) Committee Office Mohammed Abdureheman said that the deep renewal process is progressing as per scheduled .

Indicating that rent-seeking chauvinism, religious extremism and abuse of power are the main challenges which plunged the democratic system, the leadership of which member part EPDRF as well as the sister party Ethiopian Somali People’s Democratic Party (ESPDE) from higher to lower echelon took part in the evaluation meetings held as part of the reform at all levels.

He also noted that the political, administrative as well as legal measures will be taken against corrupt appointees and those who abuse power.

 “In doing so, no single individual goes to power without the consent of the public. To put it boldly, the merit-based reshuffling would be undertaken as a way forward together with the sister party ESPDP,” he as well assured.

Wrapping up his briefing, he urged the members and proponents of EPDRF and ESPDR as well as the residents to contribute their level best in the effort to meet the demand of the residents and maintain the sustainability of the ongoing renaissance by curbing the aforementioned challenges.

Residents recount power project boost investment

Following inauguration of Gibe III hydro-power project with installed power generation capacity of 1,870 megawatt worth’s 1.5 million Euros, some residents of Dire Dawa whom Government Communication Affairs Bureau’s journalist approached for comments said that the completion of this project would address the growing demand of power as well as boost investment inflow to Ethiopia.

This, they added, creates an additional opportunity for our Administration in terms of availability and reliability of power for the industrial parks which position the Administration as trade, industry and services hub in the Eastern Ethiopia.

According to some government official information, the Gibe III hydro power project with such a huge power plant becomes the second next to the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam in Ethiopia and the third largest hydroelectric plant in African continent, when it generates power at full capacity respectively.

Training on Proclamation of Employers and Employees conducted

Ethiopian Employers Federation and Holand Employers Organization jointly organized awareness creation training on the Proclamation of Employers and Employees late last week here in Dire Dawa city. The representatives from the Administration Federation of Employers’ Board, micro and small entrepreneurs, banks as well as investors took part in the training.

Opining the training, Deputy Mayor and Head of Trade, Industry and Investment Bureau Abdujebar Abdusemed said that this training will play important role in the effort to realize the vision of the Administration as well as position Dire Dawa trade, industry and service hub of the eastern part of Ethiopia. He also used the opportunity to call up on the Federations, together with other stakeholder, to exert their level best in realizing the Administration vision.

Tadelle Yimer, the Peace Ambassador, President of the Ethiopian Civil Association and Employers, Federation who also gave training, in his part elaborated that the training will help to aware the investors in resolution misunderstanding among themselves through round-table discussion rather taking the cases before court. He also noted that the Federation is heading for Dire Dawa in connection with the flow of investors in to the town.

Administration establishes PHCC branch office

At the meeting held a week ago here Dire Dawa aimed at founding the Population and Housing Census Commission (PHCC) Dire Dawa Branch Office, it was disclosed that the various facet of the past census problems.

Indicating that Ethiopia has started preparation to undertake its fourth population and housing census which will start in 2017, the Dire Dawa Administration Deputy Mayor and Head of Trade, Industry and Investment Bureau Abduljebar Abdusemed elaborated that the significance of the establishment of the branch office of the national population and housing census commission in the Administration.

Wrapping up the meeting, he urged the officials who are working at different layers of the administrative hierarchy including the residents to cooperate in the process of census.

It was known that the PHCC branch office established and launched operation officially in the presence of the Administration, high officials including head of Dire Dawa Branch office with the Ethiopian central statistic Agency.
